Buffalo Bag Co. Sam Joachim

In 1925, Sam Joachim, a resident of Houston Texas, founded Buffalo Bag Company. In a time when cotton was “king” in the south, Sam opened up warehousing facilities in Dallas, Lubbock, and Houston, making him one of the largest cotton gin suppliers in the south. The 1930′s brought worldwide economic disaster: the cotton industry diminished, giving rise to other crop demands. In spite of a shrinking cotton market, Sam continued investing money into stockpiles of burlap. WWII brought increasing demands for burlap as it was used to wrap munitions destined for overseas military use. Buffalo Bag Company flourished until the mid 1960’s, when Exxon developed a synthetic alternative to burlap, thus rendering burlap worthless. View more
A-P Distribution Inc. Mort Joachim
After 30 years in the cotton supply industry and the death of Sam Joachim in 1960, Mort Joachim began producing another stream of revenue through domestic distribution. Using his previous experiences from Buffalo Bag Company, and an existing infrastructure from the facility, warehouses, and equipment, Mort was able to secure a place for his business in the gulf coast shipping industry, where under a new name, it remains today.
World Trade Distribution Inc. Jeff Joachim

Jeff Joachim began his career with an interest in International Distribution. The 1980′s brought recession and economic hurdles for most of the domestic shipping industry. With the rise of globalization and international trade, World Trade Distribution Inc. was founded, in 1979, to handle the new international shipping market.
In 1990, the company, under Jeff’s leadership, was awarded a Central Examination Station Contract from the U.S. Government. In 1995, it constructed Houston’s first “HazMat”, under the new fire code, thus breaking the moratorium on Hazardous permits. Today, with an unprecedented track record of successes, and a 20 acre facility, World Trade has become the largest handler of LCL cargoes on the Gulf Coast.
